Within the tech community, ChatGPT is currently the most talked-about topic. Users and developers alike have expressed interest in OpenAI’s chatbot, which provides natural responses to questions asked.
Some programmers are attempting to make a profit off of the trend by developing sketchy applications, which can be found on both the App Store and the Play Store. These sketchy applications are designed to generate revenue by offering “Pro” versions or extra credits that can be used to obtain additional responses from the Chatbot.
It is essential to keep in mind that ChatGPT is available at no cost to everyone who uses the internet and that OpenAI has not yet introduced an official mobile app. There is currently no official ChatGPT API, despite the fact that there are a great number of applications that employ GPT-3.
An application known as “ChatGPT Chat GPT AI With GPT-3” has risen to the top of the charts in the Productivity category in a number of countries as reported by Macrumors.
The app offers users an “ad-free pro” experience for a premium service ranging from $4.99 to $49.99 for what is otherwise a free service.
It has been noted in several reviews of this app that the in-app purchase does not provide any further value and that the app itself seems to be a scam.
The app is in no way affiliated with OpenAI’s ChatGPT chatbot but has risen to the top of the charts in the Apple Store and was ranked as the fifth top-paid app in the productivity category at the time this article was written. Additionally, the app has had over 12000 reviews, with an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.
But the App Store showed that the sketchy app has been around for more than four years, so it was probably some other app that got a new update to help it capitalize on the popularity of ChatGPT AI.
Per Macrumors, the developers of the app also have other questionable applications available on the platform. These applications include one called “Activity Lock Screen Widget 16” and another called “BetterTrack Ride Hike Run Swim”
Meanwhile, Apple is still battling to fight such sketchy apps despite promising users privacy, security, and content standards of apps at a very high level.
