On Tuesday, September 15, Apple hosted an event to unveil the latest Apple Watch Series 6, Apple Watch SE, 8th generation iPad, and iPad Air. The Apple Watch Series 6 comes in cellular and Wi-Fi variants and started shipping out since Sept. 18. The Apple Watch Series 6 price in Nigeria starts from N160,000.
The Apple Watch Series 6 is similar to the Series 5 in design, but there are some significant performance upgrade and better health-related features like the blood oxygen tracking which detects Oxygen saturation level in your blood.
Compared to last year’s model, the Series 6 comes with a new S6 processor (It is based on the A13 Bionic processor), which boosts charging times (20% faster) and app launch times. This chip also enhances a brighter “always-on” display, making it easier to see even if the watch is not completely engaged. In this non-active case (i.e when the watch is on the wrist below chest level or inactive), Apple claims that it’s 2.5x brighter than Series 5 but the maximum brightness of the display still sits at 1000 nits.
With the exception of the new processor, new color options, and blood-oxygen sensor, the rest of the Watch Series 6 remains basically similar to the Series 5, which is not a big deal. You’ll be getting a beautiful OLED screen (40 and 44mm size options) that perfectly fits into the durable chassis made out of stainless steel, aluminum, or titanium.
Battery Strength with the Apple Watch Series 6 remains the same from last year’s Series 5 i.e around 18 hours of mixed usage on a single charge.
Finally , a new always-on altimeter is now available, which will check up on the altitude at which you are walking or running.
With the latest watchOS 7 operating system, Apple is adding a new feature called “Family Setup” that lets kids use Apple Watches without possessing an iPhone. Parents can pair several Apple Watches to their iPhones for management purposes, so children can use the safety, connectivity, and health features of the Apple Watch.
