On Wednesday, at a press conference held in line with the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Samsung introduced a whole new component to its SmartThings smart home experience called the “SmartThings Station”
The SmartThings Station will operate as a smart home hub for all of your connected gadgets, giving you the ability to control them with the touch of a button.
Users will have the ability to program their own custom routines via the SmartThings app, which can then be triggered by hitting the Smart Button located on the pad of the SmartThings Station.
The fact that the new Samsung SmartThings Station can serve as a charging pad is one of the most interesting aspects of the product.
The SmartThings Station offers support for Matter and Thread for the purpose of connecting various devices to SmartThings. These devices include televisions, speakers, thermostats, lighting, and plugs.
In addition to this, the Station is compatible with Matter, a brand new standard for smart homes, and its onboard gadgets.
Because it is capable of charging your various gadget, the Station is an even more valuable resource. It can be used as a 15-watt wireless fast-charging pad for Galaxy smartphones and earbuds.
Reports indicate that the Station is also capable of charging other phones, but at a rate that is significantly slower than the rate at which it can charge Galaxy smartphones.
The Station will make its debut initially in the Korean market. It is scheduled to arrive in the United States at the beginning of February. According to The Verge, the Station will be available for purchase for $59.99. However, if you purchase it together with a USB-C adaptor, the total cost will be $79.99.
You have the option of buying it in either black or white. It may look like it was developed around Samsung’s existing wireless charging pad, but in reality, it is made of completely new hardware and software.
The Station was initially demonstrated at CES, and from what we have seen of it, it appears to be a nice-looking, slimline, and space-saving device that is powered by USB-C.
You would find a tappable button that is quite small in size and that activates SmartThings scenes. Your phone can be charged in a simple and cost-effective manner with the device, which also has the capability of turning on your lights. Just pressing the button will allow you to perform what you need to do.
It would be quite helpful to have one of these in each of the key rooms that make up your home.
A Home That Is Smarter With Much Less Effort
Setting up Samsung’s SmartThings Station is a simple process. When a user turns on the device for the first time, pop-up notifications will show on the user’s Samsung Galaxy smartphone to assist in guiding the user through the process of connecting the device. Users also have the ability to quickly onboard devices by simply scanning a QR code using the camera on their smartphone.
Users are able to automate various areas of their home environment by using SmartThings Station. This allows users to build routines that not only make their daily lives easier but also help them spend less energy by doing things like turning off lights and appliances more quickly.
Additionally, the Station is the first first product to be commercially available with Matter already integrated into it. It will function as a Matter controller, allowing you to connect Matter smart home devices to your local network through the use of any app that is compatible with Matter. This applies to the Google Home or the Apple Home.
