Xiaomi is preparing to release its latest flagship smartphones. The new Xiaomi 13 series will be revealed during the launch event on December 1, which will also be live-streamed across various platforms such as Youtube. The lineup includes two new models, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. So here’s a roundup of rumors about these phones.
Xiaomi 13
To begin with, the Xiaomi 13 series will have a design that is similar to all modern Android phones on the market. Although there are some differences in the overall design, the standard model will have a sleek design with thin bezels, flat aluminum edges, and a glass panel on the back with a large camera island. According to rumors, the 50MP sensor on the 13 series could be paired with another 50MP telephoto sensor, another 50MP ultrawide sensor, and a 32MP selfie camera. We also anticipate seeing the Sony 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 in at least one model, most likely the 13 Pro.
The company also confirmed the availability of new devices powered by the recently announced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Xiaomi 13 is said to be the world’s first device to use the new chip. While the rest of the specs are unknown, the 13 Pro is expected to have a 6.7-inch display, 8/12 GB of RAM, and 128/256/512GB UFS 3.1 storage options. The Xiaomi 13 is expected to have a 4,500mAh battery and support 67W fast charging.
Xiaomi 13 Pro
The 13 Pro is without a doubt the most exciting model in the Xiaomi 13 series. According to the most recent leaks, the smartphone will look similar to the standard model. However, the curved screen and square-shaped camera module at the back, which houses a triple camera unit and an LED flash unit branded with the Leica logo, are expected to distinguish the two models. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is expected to have a 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and a resolution of QHD. Both phones’ displays will have a peak brightness of up to 1,900 nits.
The processor is another point of similarity between the two phones. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform will also be used by the Xiaomi 13 Pro. The company claims that the LPDDR5X RAM will increase performance by 33% and the UFS 4.0 will increase speed by 100% on the duo. The Xiaomi 13 Pro is said to have a large 4,800 mAh battery with 120W fast wired charging support and possibly 50W fast wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will be IP68 certified, giving users peace of mind against dust and water. The device’s bottom will house a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker cutout. The volume rocker and power button will be located on the right side. Xiaomi also confirmed that MIUI 14 would be unveiled alongside the new flagships. However, it is currently unknown whether the devices will ship with this version.
