WhatsApp is known for having a lot of features. This is one reason why it is used so much in many countries, not just for chats but also for voice calls, video calls, and business listings. The app is also known for adding new features often. One of the most recent additions is the ability to take polls and vote.
When you need it, the feature is very helpful, and it’s also easy to use. Today we’ll show you how to use WhatsApp to run polls and get your friends and family to vote.
How to use WhatsApp to run a poll
There is an option to run polls in both one-on-one chats and group chats, but it makes more sense to use it in group chats.
To use it, just open the chat window of the group or personal chat where you want to run a poll and tap on the attachment icon to the right of the text bar. This is the button you usually click to add photos, videos, and other files.
If you have the latest version of WhatsApp, you should see a new option here named “Poll.” If you tap on it, WhatsApp will start making a poll. On the next page, you can type in your main question and several answers. There can be between two and twelve choices.
Once your question and options have been added, you can rearrange them by clicking on the three horizontal bars to the right of each option. To move an option up or down on the list, press and hold the three-bar button next to the option and drag it up or down until it’s where you want it.
When you’re done, click the “Send” button to send the poll to the personal or group chat.
All done! It’s easy to do, and voting can start right away. You can tap View Votes to see how many votes have been cast so far and what each member has chosen. Another thing is that each person can vote for more than one option, which I don’t like and hope WhatsApp will fix soon.
