The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 has begun, and HP is taking advantage of the event to unveil new products. One of these is the brand-new Dragonfly Pro series, which is powered by AMD Ryzen processors and aimed at “prosumers” Prosumers are consumers who place a significant emphasis on productivity, such as freelancers. Along with the new EliteBook 1040 G10 and Elite x360 1040 G10, the company also unveiled the HP Dragonfly G4, a laptop that is designed specifically for people who work in businesses.
If you find yourself scratching your head over what was just said, you’re not alone. For a number of years now, HP has offered the Dragonfly series, which was formerly known as the Elite Dragonfly series, to professionals and business customers. This series serves as the company’s flagship product for that particular market. Even though the branding would indicate that this is the laptop that is targeted at business users, the company chose to bring that brand over to the consumer arena with the Dragonfly Pro. Dragonfly, on the other hand, is geared more toward businesses, while Dragonfly Pro is geared more toward customers who have a significant amount of work that has to be done.
The HP Dragonfly Pro come equipped with processors from AMD’s Ryzen 7000 series, up to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory, up to 1TB of storage space, and a 5MP webcam that features IR and a camera shutter. In addition to that, it has a 14-inch IPS Full HD screen, and its body, which weighs 3.53 pounds (1.6 kilograms), is constructed out of recycled metals and plastics.
Later on during this spring, HP will begin selling the Dragonfly Pro, but exact pricing information is not yet available. In the same timeframe, HP will also be releasing the Dragonfly Pro Chromebook. This version of the Chromebook will come equipped with Intel processors and an 8-megapixel webcam.
In addition, HP announced today the release of three new business laptops: the HP Dragonfly G4, the HP EliteBook 1040 G10, and the HP Elite x360 1040 G10, all of which will be available later on in the spring. At the conclusion of the workday, these laptops will offer new intelligent features that will improve thermal performance and minimize battery use.
