Huawei has unveiled the Mate 40 series and today we are going to discuss the Huawei Mate 40 Pro, which the company considers as the standard model. To be honest, Huawei phones aren’t easy to recommend these days and it is all due to the absence of Google Play services.
Gone are the days where Huawei devices such as the P30 Pro and Mate 20 Pro were one of the tops recommended Android phones globally. But still, that doesn’t stop some consumers from purchasing Huawei’s devices because the company has found many solutions like the creation of the App gallery which serves as Play Store. Other than the absence of Google Play services, the Mate 40 Pro takes out all the bars as a great flagship device by featuring a HUGE curved screen, appealing design, amazing stereo speakers, powerful chipset on the Android Market, and a Leica-branded camera setup. In this latest flagship, Huawei also presents the world’s fastest wired and wireless charging, as well as a large storage space.
With no specific date of lifting the Google date, Huawei still manages to maintain its phones and I think Huawei is trying to be independent of Google. It will be great for the company if that is possible.
The design of the rare cameras is undoubtedly eye-catching with the lenses around the center of a ring. Huawei called the design ‘Space Ring’.
For its cameras, Huawei stands out and the Mate 40 Pro rare camera design is definitely a good one and it is eye-catching. The quad rear camera setup consists of a 50MP RYYB (f/1.9) main lens, a 20MP (f/1.8) ultra-wide lens with a 120-degree field of view, and a 12MP (f/3.4) periscopic telephoto lens with support for 5x optical zoom, PDAF, and Optical Image Stabilization. In a capsule-shaped cutout, the 13MP selfie camera, along with a 3D ToF sensor for face unlocking and gestures are located.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro comes with a 6.76-inch curved screen (88-degree curved) and it is an OLED screen with a resolution of 1344 x 2772 pixels, 456 PPI pixel density, 90Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10.
The Huawei Mate 40 Pro packs the fastest Kirin 9000 chipset which uses the 5nm process and provides superfast 5G connectivity. Huawei says the CPU and GPU are 10% and 52% faster than the Snapdragon 865+, thereby making it the most powerful chipset currently in the Android market.
As for RAM and storage, 8 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of storage is available in the Huawei Mate 40 Pro. The internal storage is expandable but Huawei still uses the special Nano Memory cards as opposed to the conventional microSD cards. Similarly, a 4,400mAh battery is available, which should be more than enough for day to day activities
Huawei’s fast-charging innovation is top-notch and can fastly recharge your Huawei in no time. The included charger in the box supports 66W SuperCharge technology and can fully charge the device within 1 hour. If you want to charge the device wirelessly, it supports 50W fast wireless charging and this will quickly and conveniently charge the device on time.

For potential buyers sitting on the fence waiting to see what happens with Huawei smartphones, it’s actually challenging as there’s no specific date for the removal of the ban. Honestly, the lack of Google is the only downside I see in this device.
Other than that, the Mate 40 Pro, reveals just how determined Huawei can be on its future without depending on Google. With its photography, performance capabilities, and overall design, the Huawei Mate 40 Pro maintains the highest standards of flagship devices.
