It has been reported that Apple is considering reevaluating the production of the iPhone 15 Plus and adding something else to the lineup. This is primarily owing to the fact that the iPhone 14 Plus was an utter failure. The iPhone 14 series was released in September, and it comprises the iPhone 14, 14 Pro, 14 Plus, and 14 Pro Max. Although the demand for the iPhone 14 Pro models has been greater than expected, the demand for the non-pro versions of the iPhone 14 has been lower than expected.
Because Apple has having trouble moving iPhone 14 Plus units, the company has been forced to reassess its iPhone selection for 2023. Apple has already halted production of the new model just two weeks after it was first made available to the public since there does not appear to be much of a demand for it.
Apple is considering a change to its pricing strategy for its upcoming iPhone models and is evaluating the possibility of adjusting the prices in a manner that is distinct from how it has done so in the past. There are rumors that the business may reduce the price of the Plus model and this has sparked some speculation. The starting price for the Apple iPhone 14 Plus is currently $899, while the starting price for the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max is currently $1099.
Apple stopped production of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus last month due to disappointing sales, and the company instructed Foxconn to focus on the iPhone 14 Pro series.
The iPhone 14 Plus was not available for purchase in stores until October 7, however, pre-orders for the $899 model were available for much of the month of September. During the past month, Apple placed a greater emphasis on shipping the iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The iPhone 14 Plus represents a new pricing range in the flagship iPhone series. It has replaced the iPhone 13 mini, which was available for $200 less but also failed to meet expectations. Apple apparently made the decision to shift gears toward selling a larger model long before the announcement of the iPhone 14 Plus since sales of the iPhone 12 mini were so disappointing.
According to insiders within the supply chain who spoke with Wayne Ma, Apple has directed at least one assembler to “immediately halt production” of the iPhone 14 Plus. Meanwhile, Ma adds that two Apple suppliers “that rely on the parts and assemble them into larger modules” are cutting production by 70% and 90%.
The rising cost of living due to inflation and a weaker-than-average global economy are two potential contributing causes of this situation. The iPhone 14 costs $799 and has a fair-sized display, so Apple has priced the iPhone 14 at a fair but tough price. The display of the much more expensive iPhone 14 Plus (which costs $899) is considerably larger, but there are no additional upgrades. In comparison, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max which include more advanced camera systems as well as a new dynamic island, retail for $999 and $1099 respectively.
According to some reports, Apple plans to move forward with an iPhone 15 Plus edition in the fall of 2023, despite the fact that there are early indications that demand will be sluggish. Early reviewers have praised the Plus model since it has a longer battery life and it costs $200 less than the Max model while having a screen size that is comparable.
It has been learned by some reports that Apple has already informed several suppliers to discontinue production of iPhone 14 Plus-specific components. This information comes from a source close to Apple. According to the publication, which cites unnamed individuals within the supply chain, Apple will not resume manufacturing until after the company has conducted a demand analysis. It is rumored that certain manufacturers are producing between 70 and 90 percent fewer iPhone 14 Plus units than Apple had initially anticipated. However, there are rumors that Apple plans to release an iPhone 15 Plus with the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 Pro, and the iPhone 15 Pro Max in the following year.
The iPhone 14 Plus has few improvements over the iPhone 14 and costs $100 extra. On the other hand, the iPhone 14 Plus is an iPhone that has fewer features than the iPhone Pro Max, but it costs only US$200 less. Although there is a larger price difference between the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14 Pro Max than there is between the iPhone 14 Plus and the iPhone 14, purchasing the iPhone 14 Pro Max will net you a better display, a more recent chipset, and improved rear cameras for an additional $200 on top of the 14 Plus price of $899.
