One of LG’s biggest budget devices for 2020 is the LG Q51, which is the predecessor to the latest LG Q52 that was officially announced on September 26 and released in the USA on October 26. For users who want an LG device but don’t want to spend $500 to get one, then this latest LG Q52 is hopefully arriving in Nigeria at an affordable price.
LG overhauled its budget strategy this year, despite massive pressure from Chinese rivals like Redmi, Oppo, and so on. When compared with its predecessor, the latest LG Q52 comes with many upgrades especially the performance, camera, display, and overall design. However, the battery reminds at 4000 mAh.
Is it a good choice for the price with so much pressure on the budget market? Find out below.
Display & Camera
The device features a 6.6-inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 720 x 1600 pixels resolution, 266PPI pixel density, and a 20:9 aspect ratio. It’s slightly taller than the 6.5 inch LG Q51. The bezels are a little thinner than its predecessor. This is clearly not a premium-quality screen, but it would be difficult to find a competing device with an OLED display at this price range.
With four lenses on the back, the LG Q52 has a decent camera array that can perform well. There is a 48MP(f/1.8) main lens, which supports PDAF. There’s a 5 MP(f/2.2) ultra-wide lens, a 2MP(f/2.4) macro lens, and a 2MP(f/2.4) depth sensor. Unfortunately, there’s no telephoto lens. And as for the front-facing camera, it is a 13MP wide lens that takes care of the selfies.
Performance & Battery
The LG Q52 is powered by Mediatek MT6765 Helio P35 (12nm) chipset. This is not a powerful processor around and it is not a gaming-centered processor. It is coupled to 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded via an sd card.
Simply put, this year LG has improved on the storage side, with the LG Q52 providing 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage while the LG Q51 that was released earlier this year had 3GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. LG’s choice to use the Mediatek Helio P35 in the LG Q52 makes no much improvement than its predecessor. The Helio P35 has an octa-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU operating up to 2.3GHz and IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU running up to a speedy 680MHz, and there is not enough strength to perform multitask tasks and run heavy games smoothly.
The LG Q52 is not very different from what LG offered some months ago in this category, but the camera and design improvements allow it to stand out.
As for the battery aspect, the LG Q52 has a 4,000mAh battery with no support for fast charging, and we all know that one of the awesome things of phones these days is support for fast charging support even if it is a budget phone.

LG K92 5G price in Nigeria & availability
The price of the LG Q52 was set at US$280 (approximately N110,000) and it is already available for sale in the USA and some parts of Europe since October 26.
There is no official confirmation on the availability of the device outside the USA and Europe but the company may announce its release date outside the USA in the next coming weeks. Nonetheless, we estimate the LG Q52 price in Nigeria to range between N130,000 to N150,000.
No phone has ever been meant to be flawless, and there will always be space for improvement. It will be great if the device comes with a faster processor, fast charge tech, and a telephoto camera. But the plain truth is that these budget devices have to also offer budget hardware in order for the company to make profits.
When you compare it with its predecessor, the hardware is still sluggish and not improved well, however, the design, camera, and memory have been improved well. So, if you are still using the A50 or A50s, it doesn’t make much sense to upgrade to the Galaxy A51, since it’s mostly the same phone that Samsung released last year.
Finally, the specs of the LG Q52 are comparable to other budget devices but we are more likely to recommend a Realme (Realme 6 Pro) or a Redmi phone (Redmi Note 9 Pro Max). And this is due to the fact that LG phones are mostly not sold in the Nigerian markets except maybe you want to order from abroad or online retails stores which will be sold more expensively. Also, these phones we recommended are far better than LG Q52 in many aspects.
