The Motorola Razr 2019 is an impressive foldable mobile phone, which is one of the best foldable phones out there. Motorola Razr resembles the original Razr V3 that was launched a long time ago. But this new Razr is on a new different level. The new Razr is a clamshell phone with a 6.20-inch primary display that folds and that can still compete with Samsung’s foldable phone and Huawei Mate X. There is no doubt about how fun it will be to use it, but it is expensive.
One thing that I noticed about foldable phones is that they are super expensive. None of them cost less than a thousand dollars!! I think the reason is that the technology and design requirements to build a foldable phone require extra sophistication and resources.
The 2019 Motorola Razr was announced on the 13th of November with the pre-order opening date of December 26th, 2019 before the actual release date which will be around January 2020.

Design & display of RAZR 2019
For a whopping four years, Motorola has been working on the new Razr. Various prototype designs have been tested and presented to users. Motorola has found that most smartphone users do not want a large phone and yet folding which will make it, even more, thicker when unfolded or already huge when folded up. And because of that, they went for a clamp shell design that is directly similar to Razr V3 that was released in 2014. The phone is slim and yet can fit into your pocket. Isn’t that better than the huge Huawei Mate X?
When folded up, the device fits in your palm and has a textured metal back and a glass front cover. A camera is located just below the secondary screen, which serves as a front shooter when the clamp shell is locked.
It is a clamp shell phone and, of course, you won’t expect it to be waterproofed but Motorola claims that a small to a moderate spill of water won’t cause a problem.
A 2.7-inch, 800 x 600 secondary (4:3) display, and 2142 x 876 OLED (21:9 aspect) primary display are featured on the clamshell phone. It flips across the center horizontally.
The camera of RAZR 2019
Two Razr cameras are available. A primary 16 MP shooter that can also be used as a selfie camera when the phone is folded, and a 5 MP camera embedded on top-notch of the screen.
Razr has a TOF sensor for good portrait pictures that is barely noticeable under the Gorilla Glass 3 cover next to the main camera.
Performance & battery
This Razr 2019 is fitted with a Snapdragon 710 chipset which is a mid-range chipset that won’t perform well like Samsung Galaxy Fold which comes with a powerful Snapdragon 855. It comes with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The device is still has a good chipset when compared with a 2,510mAh battery. The Razr is less than 7mm when it comes to thickness and due to its clamshell feature, it is close to impossible to have enough space for sd card, headphone jack, and SIM card slot. I think Razr 2019 is the first phone to exclusively work with eSIM. Similarly, Motorola stocks the Razr with Android 9 Pie on the software side.

RAZR 2019 price in Nigeria & availability
Razr 2019 price starting at $1,500 approx N550,000 and it is available only in selected offline retail shops.
The phone is good and one of its kind when it comes to design. It is a clamshell phone with a 6.2-inch screen and yet slim and sleek with a nice design. Drawbacks of this device are the battery and camera but that is not a BIG issue to me since it comes with a chipset that won’t drain the battery & also Motorola claims that the battery can last for as long as a day. As for the camera, RAZR is not specifically made for photography rather made to follow the latest foldable phone tech trend and to bring back the classic RAZR v3 clamshell phone.
