As of today, the company has released the first closed beta of Android 13-based Nothing OS. This means that users of Nothing Phone (1) could soon no longer have to wait for the Android 13 update. The Android 13-based software update for the Phone (1), which is currently only referred to as Nothing OS 1.5, has been teased for quite some time. Carl Pei, the founder of Nothing, made the announcement on Twitter today, stating that the Android 13-based build’s closed beta begins today and that the open beta is scheduled to begin in the next two weeks.
As of right now, the company has started distributing the NothingOS 1.5 Closed Beta. The CEO took to Twitter in order to announce the timeline for the Android 13–based NothingOS update for its smartphone. However, the open beta won’t start until two weeks after the closed beta has already been made available to users. This information is in line with the facts that the company had previously announced, which is that the Android 13 stable update for the Phone (1) model will be released sometime in the beginning of 2023.
Since the initial release of the Phone (1), the company has been providing a variety of firmware updates, but it appeared that the Android 13 update would take some time to roll out. Therefore, this is very good news for owners of the only smartphone offered by the company. It is currently unknown how one can register for the Android 13 closed beta update, and it is also unknown which regions will be receiving this update. Neither of these questions can be answered at this time. However, with the official launch of the NothingOS 1.5 open beta, we can anticipate the release of additional information that will be made available to us.
