The latest Oneplus 8 smartphone adds both a flagship standard of sleeky design and solid performance. When compared with last year’s Oneplus 7, Oneplus has greatly improved the camera, screen, and battery quality of Oneplus 8. The price of Oneplus 8 in Nigeria will be around $699 approx N250,000
Last year, the brand’s flagship phones were released in two variants – the inexpensive model or simply “standard edition” and a Pro variant (the USA only) that has the high-end specs; however this year, both variants are in the expensive range.

Design & Display Of OnePlus 8
The device comes with a display cutout at the left side of the screen and the selfie camera is embedded within the cutout.
When it comes to screens with fast refresh rates, OnePlus is definitely one of the brands that care about a smoother screen experience. Last year we saw a screen with 90Hz on the OnePlus 7T. The OnePlus 8 Pro sprung to a 120Hz Quad HD screen panel. However, the OnePlus 8 does have a 90Hz Full HD+ screen panel and a max brightness of 1100nits.
The OnePlus 8 sports an AMOLED 6.55-inch display with FHD+ resolution (2400 x 1080 pixels). The 20:9 ratio signifies a comparatively tall and narrow handset, which, for good cause, has become more common in mobile phones and to me, it makes it easier to use with one hand.
It’ll be available in Onyx Black, Glacial Green, Interstellar Glow, and Polar Silver colors. The colors are beautiful and have a mirror-like surface that changes color based on the angle you see it from. Apart from the beautiful colors, the design is sleek and the edges are curved.
Finally, the OnePlus 8 features a quick and precise in-screen fingerprint sensor.
The OnePlus 8 has a triple rear camera configuration comprising of a 48 (f/1.75) primary lens, a 16 MP ultra-wide (f/2.2) lens, and a 2 MP (f/2.4) macro lens. A 16 MP (f/2.0) wide lens for selfies.
Performance & Battery
The main feature update is the addition of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset in conjunction with the X55 5 G modem in both the OnePlus 8 and onePlus 8 Pro.
You will choose to either 8 GB RAM and 128 GB ROM, or 12 GB RAM and 256 GB ROM.
The device comes with a 4,300mAh battery and OnePlus claims that with Warp Charge 30T charger, you can juice up your phone from 0-50% in 30 mins. And one thing, OnePlus has finally added a 40W wireless charging to the OnePlus 8 Plus only.
The OxygenOS (Based on Android 10) offers an excellent User Interface. It’s very simple, clean and comes with new features. For example, while you are deep in a game session and don’t want to be interrupted, Zen Mode will block messages and calls.

OnePlus phones have long been recognized as one of the finest Android phones with a price tag of less than 700 dollars. But this year’s Oneplus devices are a little bit expensive when compared to last year’s Oneplus devices, and although the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro are still cheaper than some of their closest rivals like Samsung Galaxy S20 series.
