Realme recently unveiled a new phone to the 7 series. The phone is similar to the Realme 7 Pro that was released some months but it packs a chipset that supports 5G connectivity and just like the rest of the Realme 7 variants, it is aimed at providing consumers the most quality experience possible at a lower price point. Despite not having an AMOLED screen, It is great to see Realme 7 5G pack 120Hz refresh rate for smooth scrolling and response. Now, check out our quick review.
The device features a 6.5 inch LCD display with 1080 x 2400 pixels resolution, 405PPI pixel density, and a 120Hz refresh rate. There are fashionable rounded corners on the screen frame, and it is covered by Gorilla Glass for extra protection. The display beats competitors easily with similar price points and it is all due to the FHD+ screen and 120Hz refresh rates. Other competitors stick still stick to 720p.
The Realme 7 5G features five cameras – a quad configuration at the back and a front fang camera for selfies. The quad-camera configuration consists of a 48MP (f/1.8) wide lens alongside three other lenses, an 8MP (f/2.3) ultra-wide lens with 119˚ field of view, 2MP (f/2.4) macro, and 2MP (f/2.4) depth sensor. We’ve got a 16MP (f/2.1) punch-hole selfie camera in front. There are different camera modes like portrait, ultra-macro, Google lens integration, Slo-Mo, Timelapse, Panorama, Movie, Game, Night mode, and the dedicated 64MP mode.
The Realme 7 5G does not pack the best processor but the MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G (7 nm) that drives the device is considerably on the smoother side when compared to the Realme 7 Pro’sSnapdragon 720G (8 nm).
The MediaTek Dimensity 800U 5G (7 nm) chipset is paired with Mali-G57 MC3 GPU, 6/8 GB RAM, and 128GB internal storage which can be expanded with an SD card. The chipset comes with an integrated 5G modem and features two Arm Cortex-A76 ‘Big’ cores operating up to a speedy 2.4GHz in its octa-core CPU. So it can perform simple day-to-day tasks and can play graphically intensive games such as PUBG with little to no glitches.
The Realme 7 5G is fuelled by a huge 5,000 mAh battery which is an upgrade from the 4,500 mAh cell of the Realme 7 Pro. The phone supports a 30W fast charge tech, which with such a large capacity battery is very good. Realme claims that in 26 mins, you can replenish up to 50% of the battery charge and 100 percent in just 65 mins.

Verdict
I really can’t answer the question as to whether or not this is an upgrade to the standard Realme 7, however, without comparison to any of the Realme 7 series, then it sure looks appealing. You get a sleek, up-to-date design, a 120Hz refresh rate, decent cameras, decent performance with support for 5G, and good battery life with fast charging support.
In my humble opinion, the Realme 7 5G is no different from the standard Realme 7, however, you get a new set of features like 120Hz refresh rate and a 7nm chipset that supports 5G connectivity. With that being said, Realme 7 5G is a future proof phone than any of the Realme 7 devices .
