There is only a handful of Thunderbolt 4 monitors on the market. Samsung has released the ViewFinity S8UT. A new model with two such connectors has now been unveiled. This can be used to connect other Thunderbolt accessories, such as a second monitor, which can then be connected directly to the ViewFinity. The monitor can also charge a notebook with up to 90 watts of power. Furthermore, the S8UT can be linked to a standard HDMI 2.2 connector.
Samsung has now released the ViewFinity S8UT model, which includes all of the functionality of the S80PB model as well as a couple of Thunderbolt 4 ports. The monitor features a resolution of 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, a refresh rate of 60 Hz, response times of 5 ms, and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1.
The ViewFinity S8UT adds Thunderbolt 4 connectivity to the ViewFinity S8 series, which still features 90 W of fast charging and an additional port capable of supplying 15 W to a connected device. The first can power a laptop as well as Thunderbolt add-ons like a second 4K display, while the second can power a mouse, keyboard, or charged phone.
The ViewFinity S8UT also has three USB 3.0 Type-A connectors, Ethernet, and an HDMI port. Samsung provides a height- and pivot-adjustable stand in addition to dual speakers. Although no pricing information has been released by Samsung, we expect it to be equivalent to the ViewFinity S80PB which is around 500 euros.
