Tecno Spark 5 is the direct successor to Spark 4 released last year and this year’s Spark 5 comes with some noticeable upgrades like the camera, the screen size (just a little), and most importantly a Dot-in display.
I think it’s high time to post a comprehensive topic on the differences and similarities between Tecno Spark 5 and its predecessor. And also the reasons why you should upgrade or not upgrade.

Design & Display Of Tecno Spark 5
The Tecno Spark 5 features a plastic body design that provides a comfortable feel. Unlike Spark 4, this phone comes with a Dot-In display with an 8 MP camera embedded within the small cut-out. All this is in an effort to minimize distraction while viewing the screen.
Concerning the back, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and the quadruple-camera vertically aligned at the top left edge. You will find a micro-USB 2.0 port at the bottom, power and the volume buttons at the right edge.
It’ll be available in fantastic gradient colors of Misty Grey, Ice Jadeite, Vacation Blue, and Spark Orange.
The Tecno Spark 4 comes with a 6.6-inch IPS LCD Dot-In display (with a resolution of 720 x 1600 pixels) which is sure a distinctive feature for a budget phone. The screen has a screen-to-body of 90.2 percent, which means that the phone is nearly bezel-less at the top but at the bottom, there’s a small chin. This tremendous screen-to-body ratio is to provide more room for display.
The aspect ratio of 20:9 shows how tall the device is and to me, this will be pretty good to hold and continuously use with one hand.
Spark 5 comes with 5 cameras. 4 rear camera setup which includes the 13 MP Main lens, 2 MP macro lens for a close-up shot, 2 MP Depth lens for bokeh effect, and a QVGA lens. An 8 MP lens for selfies.
Tecno claims that her brand-new AI Camera 3.0 algorithm with F/1.8 broad aperture is incorporated on the 13 MP main lens and this makes photos very clear and realistic, whether it is daytime or night.
Also, the quad rear flash effectively fixes the issue of dim images, offering you better, lighter and stunning pictures at night.
More features of the camera:
- Super night mode: Which allows you to take the best low-light shots.
- HDR+ enhanced mode: For better color and contrast.
- Wider and improves bokeh effect
- Macro photography: For extreme close-up images.
As for the selfie camera, Tecno claims that her latest facial algorithm will do all the necessary touches and beautification of your photos and thereby saving your time from editing them.
Finally, the potriat bokeh effect has been greatly improved
Performance & battery
The Tecno Spark 5 is built by the Mediatek MT6761 Helio A22 (12 nm) chip which an octa-core processor (clocked at 2Ghz) along with PowerVR GE8320 GPU. It comes with 2GB RAM and 32 GB ROM which can be expanded with the help of an sd card.
The device operates with the HiOS 6.1operating system which is based on Android 10. Tecno claims that her latest HiOS 6.1 is optimized and the interface is improved with new features such as dark skin, social turbo, face beautification for video calls, and so on.
It is fueled with a 5000mAh Li-Po battery. Tecno did not mention anything concerning the type of charger it’ll come with. So we highly assume it’ll be a 10W charger which will enable you to charge your Spark 5 from 0-50% in 40mins.
Tecno claims that Spark 5 will last for more than 16 hours while listening to music, 14 hours while surfing the net, and up to 344 hours on standby.
