Tecno has released another budget phone yesterday in India and it called Tecno Spark 6 Air. The budget device is released together with a wireless earphone named Minipod M1. The launching price of Tecno Spark 6 Air and Minipod M1 is Rs 7,999 and Rs 799 respectively. Spark 6 Air was unveiled with a huge 6,000mAh battery and a massive 7in HD+ display.
It’s barely 3months since Tecno launched the Spark 5 Air which we believe is the predecessor of Tecno Spark 6 Air. We compared the specs of the two devices and found only 1 major and 1 minor difference and it is the battery capacity and camera specs respectively. Other than that, they are completely identical. Pls note that both Spark 5 Air and 6 Air are yet to be released and changes to the specs of these devices are very possible
The one thing that bothers me about the Tecno’s Spark series or per se Tecno, in general, is how they release nearly or completely identical devices to the series that mostly doesn’t worth an upgrade. Just take a look at Tecno Spark 5 which is the direct successor to Tecno Spark 4, you’ll find out that they are nearly identical and makes it unworthy to upgrade.

Display & Design

The Tecno Spark 6 Air has a screen size measuring 7-inch HD+ with a screen resolution of 720p. The screen had a waterdrop notch that houses the single selfie camera. The screen offers 480 nits of brightness and it is flat and huge.
The Tecno Spark 6 Air is really a good device for watching videos, with such a huge screen size but the display resolution is quite disappointing and will provide only decent clarity.
The latest Spark 6 Air design is no much different from its younger siblings. Nevertheless, it is still stunning.
I like the Tecno Spark 6 Air design despite the fact that there’s nothing unique about it but when you consider the price, it looks great. It also looks sleek despite the huge battery.
Spark 6 Air will be available in three colours: Comet Black/Ocean Blue/Cloud White.
Camera

Unlike its predecessor, Tecno Spark 6 Air rocks 3 a rear camera sensor which consists of a 13 MP (f/1.8) main sensor, 2 MP depth sensor, and an Al lens. I think this is the main reason you would go for the Spark 6 Air, as it is a definite upgrade from the Spark Air’s dual-camera configuration. And I think this AI lens would bring more feature upgrades.
Tecno claimed that the updated AI algorithms are more efficient and can, therefore, take a more natural picture, covering more shooting scenes, and improving the whole picture specifics and quality. Tecno also claimed that AI recognition and AI bokeh are more accurate than before.
The main sensor supports 4X digital zoom and processes the image details more finely. The macro lens is for close-up images.
As for the selfie camera, it comes with an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture to take bright and natural images. Features of the camera include bokeh mode, auto scene detection, AI beauty mode, AR stickers and AI HDR mode.
The AI HDR regulates the illumination l while you’re going to have more light or less light and show more information in the images, the HDR comes with an algorithm that can minimize glare from the images while taking selfies.
A further functionality on the camera is the identification of the AI scene. There are 10 separate built-in scenes, and at the same time, the device will combine scenes. This allows your pictures more accurate and sophisticated, as the camera will sense the scene dynamically and change your shot and display accordingly.
Performance & Battery
It is operated by the MediaTek Helio A22 SoC paired with 2 GB RAM and 32 GB ROM, which can be further expanded via a microSD slot. As for the device, the TENCO Spark 6 Air boots out of the box with Android 10 OS and HiOS 6.2.
As for the performance, this device is not worthy. It comes with a chipset that can’t handle most of the activities done by heavy phone users like me. You can smoothly enjoy the device performance if you are not like me who multitasks and run apps that require much from the chipset.
As for the battery, it is a 6,000 mAh battery which once charged can last for more than 700hrs on standby (As advertised). Unfortunately, It doesn’t support fast charging. Tecno claims that once the device is charged, it can last for more than 13hrs while playing games.
Spark 6 Air runs on a custom UI called HiOS 6.2 and it is based on Android 10 Go edition.

Conclusion
To me, the Tecno Spark 6 Air is a very good option for consumers that are interested in a widescreen, massive battery, and a decent camera. Otherwise, there is no much improvement when you compare it with its latest predecessor. The handset has a sleek look which is fine by many people.
If you are a heavy phone user and want to buy a phone in this price range, then you won’t enjoy many benefits. The performance would definitely disappoint you.
The Tecno Spark 6 air is a perfect addition to the Spark series. I like the design but is it worth buying? Yes, it is worth buying but not as a primary device for people like me who spend lots of time playing PUBG and doing other heavy stuff. The other issue is the screen resolution but still, it is pretty fair when you consider the price.
