Back in July, Tecno released Spark 6 Air in India and now the company has released a new model in Pakistan, named Tecno Spark 6. It is the successor to Spark 5 that was released in May 2020. The Tecno Spark 6 price in Nigeria is N48k.
In order to maintain the sales momentum going, the Tecno Spark 6 sticks to the predecessor formula, keeping up with a low price tag in the smartphone market.
The Tecno Spark 6 is not a major improvement over the Spark 5 anyway, but due to the short release period, that’s what is expected. Nevertheless, there some slight upgrades like a larger display fitted into the same body but with different rare camera configuration, an entry-level gaming chipset, fast charging support, and camera improvements.
Tecno Spark 6 features a 6.8-inch IPS panel that has a Full HD+ resolution of 720 x 1640 pixels with a pixel density of 263PPI.
The device pack a Mediatek Helio G70 processor, combined with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of ROM which can be expanded via an SD card. The Spark 6 is not as well equipped as some of its closest rivals seem to come with more memory options. Nevertheless, it is a gaming-centered processor for entry-level phones and it houses two 2 GHz Cortex-A75 cores, plus six A55 cores.

Tecno Spark 6 has a quad rear-camera configuration at the center of the back panel. The sensors consist of a 16MP main sensor, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP portrait depth sensor + an AI lens along with a LED flash. Upfront, the device accommodates an 8MP camera sensor for selfies which sits underneath the punch-hole notch.
Just like its predecessor, Spark 6 is fueled by a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging.

Verdict
The Chinese manufacturer provides an interesting package in the below N50k price range. Even though it turns out that the differences with the predecessor are slight, Tecno has managed to make the correct improvements. With the newest Spark 6, the low RAM and chipset we criticized in the predecessor are no longer here. And as for the display, the IPS panel is the centerpiece of almost all inexpensive smartphones, so there are no critics here. Thanks to 18W fast charging support too.
With such a fantastic camera and decent overall performance, it offers great value, plus Tecno made the new Spark 6 rare camera configuration more attractive. For most consumers, it’s a perfect purchase and will definitely sell well based on that camera configuration.
In the budget smartphone market where priorities change with the demand for more RAM and storage options, the Tecno Spark 6 in Nigeria may have a direct route to the crown of budget phones under N50,000. However, there’s one thing the Spark 6 didn’t impress me, and it is the lack of more storage options. I hope they include two or three memory-based variants when releasing the device in Nigeria.
