Tecno Spark 7T price in Nigeria, review, and full specs

The Tecno Spark 7T is the latest device in the Spark 7 series. For elegant yet cheap devices, the Tecno brand is quite prominent in diverse regions such as Africa, Southeast Asia, and Latin America. For those consumers who dont want to burn a hole in their pocket, the Tecno Spark series are reputed for giving outstanding value for money.

After months of speculation, the Tecno Spark 7T has finally arrived in India, accompanying the other Spark 7-series devices. The Tecno Spark 7T is a budget phone that will compete with Realme C-series phones in the same price range. It features a dot notch on the front for the selfie camera, a rectangular module on the back with a 48MP camera, and an elegantly textured back panel that looks glossy.

With a debut price of less than N60,000, the Tecno Spark 7T offers incredible value and could be the best budget device available. But first, let’s take a look at the phone’s specs.

The Design of Tecno Spark 7T

The phone, manuals, a transparent case, adapter, Micro USB cable, pin ejector, and a wired headset are all included in the Tecno Spark 7T’s box. The phone itself is stunning — Tecno has good ways of making devices appear more premium than they are.

Even though 6.5-inch devices are popular nowadays, the Tecno Spark 7T is a huge device. The Spark 7T’s screen size indicates that using the device properly with one hand is difficult unless you have a huge hand.

Despite its thickness of 9.5mm, the device does not feel excessively thick. The buttons are well-placed and your finger can lie on the power and volume buttons comfortably.

As previously stated, the device looks nice, thanks to the multi-coated, textured plastic back. The surface is somewhat glossy and sleek, but unlike phones with glossy back it doesn’t stain as easily.

It has a rectangular camera module that seems like it belongs on a higher-end smartphone, but it’s really simply a dual-camera system with a flash in the center and the words “SUPER CAM” inscribed beside it.

We were expecting a USB-C port, but it’s not surprising that it only has a Micro USB connector. Even the Tecno POVA didn’t have USB-C, so we’re fine with it. It does have a 3.5mm audio jack, and the complimentary headset is a nice touch at a time when most manufacturers don’t include it anymore.

Display

Screenshot 13 edited - Tecno Spark 7T price in Nigeria, review, and full specs

The Tecno Spark 7T sports a dot-type notch in the center of its 6.52-inch IPS LCD display, which has a resolution of 720 x 1600 and this is quite typical for its price. Because the chin is a little thicker than the top, which is the current standard, we can assume that the front design satisfies the present standard for such a price range. For a budget device, the display quality and brightness are good. Although there are apparent traces of fading along the edges at lower brightness levels, nevertheless, viewing angles are good. The display quality doesn’t concern us, and it shouldn’t bother the vast majority of users.

The trade-off is that its pixel density isn’t quite as high as the current competition, although this didn’t surprise us quite as much as we expected. The display quality, on the other hand, is unexpectedly good. In several parts of the user interface, switching to the dark theme created respectable blacks for an LCD.

Gaming and watching movies are basically OK. Since size matters when you’re playing any mobile game with full touchscreen controls, the Tecno Spark 7T outperforms its competitors in the budget segment.

A larger screen for Netflix means a larger view, as well as the option to share it with others. Also when it comes to reading, a bigger display allows you to read and work more than on a smaller display. The two criticism to the display is the low pixel density and the screen could have been better if it is brighter. It’s nearly impossible to see clearly when you are using the phone under bright sunshine. Even at max brightness, it is difficult to read.

If screen size is important to you, Spark 7T has one of the largest screens in the budget market.

Camera

The back camera on the Tecno Spark 7T is made up of two lenses. The main camera is 48 MP with an f/1.9 aperture and autofocus. The secondary camera is unknown.

You will shoot regular images in good lighting with the Tecno Spark 7T. They’ll have enough detail and the right colors. However, do not expect such good results in more complex situations. AI portrait, AI beauty, short videos, AR effects, Video bokeh, and slow-mo video are all available in the camera settings, which is fascinating. You can record videos with a maximum resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels on the Tecno Spark 7T.

Photos shoot in good lighting are often sharp, but good lighting necessitates a lot of light. Unless you’re shooting stills, photos shoot indoors tend to be soft, making it difficult to capture moving items.

The front camera is a single 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. Its capabilities aren’t really amazing. The colors are rather faint, and the detail is poor. It is, nevertheless, sufficient for video calls. We recommend using HDR when taking selfies.

Software & UI

The Tecno Spark 7T is powered by Android 11 with an HiOS 7.6 customized Android interface on board. Additional functionality and bloatware or unnecessary applications have been added to the UI.

Fast access to apps, gesture navigation, Dark theme, and some pre-installed apps, and more are included in the bloatware of which I personally don’t like.

You can uninstall the pre-installed apps if you don’t like them; however, certain apps cannot be uninstalled. When you do multitasking or add more software, the performance is decent at first, but not so much later. And one important thing, ads, ads, ads, more ads will annoy you if you are not used to it.

Performance & Battery

Screenshot 14 edited - Tecno Spark 7T price in Nigeria, review, and full specs

The MediaTek Helio G35 (12 nm) octa-core in the Spark 7T is clocked at 2.3 GHz. It also has 4 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of storage that can be expanded with a microSD card.

The Chipset is adequate for light tasks, but don’t expect it to perform smoothly when multi-tasking; you may find phones in this price range that perform better.

If you value gaming, you should ignore this phone because it delivers average performance. Games that demand more of the chipset (GPU specifically) will not run on high settings, but rather on low to moderate settings.

With simple functions, such as surfing the net, watching videos on youtube, social media, and casual gaming, the phone performs commendably. Because it is driven by a low-end chipset, don’t expect exceptional gaming results, particularly in high-end games like PUBG.

The phone is fuelled by a large 6,000 mAh battery, which is good for a day’s worth of backup. This includes watching videos, using Social media such as Facebook or Instagram, web browsing, phone calls, among other things. The phone, however, does not support fast charging. It comes with a 10W charger which takes about two hours to completely recharge. Another drawback is the lack of fast charging support.

Tecno Spark 7T price in Nigeria & availability

The Tecno Spark 7T is already available for sale in Tecno’s stores and Amazon across India. it is yet to be released in Nigeria, howver, we estimate its price to range from N55,000 to N60,000.

Should you buy it?

The Tecno Spark 7T provides excellent value. The phablet’s extra-large display gives a generally fluid experience for reading and watching movies, while the battery life can last days, and the Helio G35 processor under the hood offers decent performance and can play many games smoothly.

There aren’t as many phablets on the market these days as there were in earlier years when stores had stacks and rows of them, but the Spark 7T is as good an evidence as any for their capability. Don’t ever be amazed if phone-tablet hybrids resurface – and resurface quickly. The Spark 7T is a one-of-a-kind offering in comparison to other models in its pricing range.

Verdict

Although the Tecno Spark 7T is priced in the entry-level segment, its design can outshine certain mid-range devices. Although the camera on the Spark 7T isn’t the best, it does have a large battery, a big screen, and enough storage. In conclusion, for N55,000 – N60,000, Spark 7T is an excellent value.

To be honest, Tecno is gaining traction with its aggressive pricing, offering the Spark 7T model for less than N60,000. Anyone on a tight budget should consider this phone based on the price alone.

It’s a reasonably well-built phone that inspires joy in appearance, battery life, and, more importantly, large screen and battery life provided you’re not too worried about speed or camera performance.
