In India, the smartphone brand Poco which recently split from Xiaomi to establish itself as an independent brand has introduced another phone in the budget segment. The phone, called the Xiaomi Poco M3, comes with some performance and camera improvements when compared to its predecessor Poco M2 that was released in September 2020.
The Poco M3 is a budget smartphone that provides appropriate care of most of the basics. As the brand continues to build a reputation and name for its self in the Nigerian smartphone markets, this phone specifically indicates Poco’s strong entrance into the already flooded budget segment.
Except for the freshly redesigned back and inclusion of Snapdragon processor, the Poco M3 specification is remarkably identical to its predecessor and Redmi 9.
With outstanding battery life, a large screen, decent performance, and fair cameras for the price, the phone is pretty good. Now check out the quick review and full specs below

For an ideal viewing experience, the Poco M3 comes with a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with 2,340 x 1,080 pixels resolution, 395PPI pixel density, a 19:5:9 aspect ratio, and a dot drop notch. The screen is covered by Gorilla Glass 3 which helps in protecting it against drops and scratches.
The phone’s style, with a large glossy camera bump inscribed with a large POCO logo, definitely looks appealing from behind.
There is a 48 MP(f/1.8) main camera on the back of the Xiaomi Poco M3. This is combined with a macro lens of 2 MP(f/2.4), and a depth sensor of 2 MP(f/2.4) as well. The phone has a front camera with 8 MP(f/2.1) AI for selfies. Just like other Poco or Xiaomi devices, the Poco M3 is also overloaded with AI features, which needlessly add color to the images and beautify them.
The design of the M3 is certainly one of the main selling points as it indicates that it is well worth the money spent on it. When compared to other budget phones, the phone has an exceptional design. To be honest, a lot of budget phones share designs that are very identical. But the M3’s design, particularly the back is unique and distinctive.
Of course, compromises are typical and must be done in this price segment in order to cut costs. The phone packs the Snapdragon 662 SOC and it is not a powerful chipset, however, the latest Xiaomi Mi UI 12 OS will definitely give you a flexible experience.
The M3’s massive battery outshone our expectations for such a price. At 6000 mAh, It has the largest battery capacity in this price segment, and it is estimated to last for more than 3 days on average use and more than 1 day when used heavily.

If a unique design, big screen, and excellent battery life are what you need, then Poco M3 provides that for an affoable price. Under US$200, the Poco M3 is a pleasant phone to recommend.
A high refresh rate display was the only feature that it lacked, and because 90Hz displays are rapidly becoming a trend in the budget segment, this phone may not be such a priority for you if you have been spoiled by a seamless display.
