Xiaomi has unveiled a new high-spec-low-price device, the Xiaomi Redmi K30S. It’s the latest device in the K30 series but it looks like a rebranded Mi 10T that was recently released in China. The device will definitely make some hit especially in regions where Xiaomi currently sells phones well.
Just 2 months ago, Redmi launched the K30 Ultra model and it hasn’t been up to 5 months since the K30 Pro model was launched. To be honest, the Redmi k30S will just directly compete with the K20 Pro, and K30 Ultra. Nevertheless, the Redmi K30 is only mid-range, while in others it beats high-end flagships.
Just like the other devices in the K30 series, the K30S is only a mid-ranger but with high-specs that can compete with high-end flagships. Check out the Xiaomi Redmi K30S price in Nigeria, full specs, and verdict below.
Design and Display

It’s nice to see the Redmi K30S adopting the design style of Mi 10T. To be honest there are lot of consumers who prefer hole-punch or notch than a motorized selfie camera as seen on K30 Pro and K30 Ultra. Yeah motorized selfie camera allows room for more viewing experience but when it comes to durability, it is another big issue for some consumers. The screen is covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for extra protection and it is certified by TUV Rheinland.
If you are all for quality display and can’t afford many compromises on the quality of the display, then you should actually try the Redmi K30S. This device really offers a stunning IPS LCD display. The K30S will fascinate you with a full view display with HDR10 certification and has a small chin with a screen-to-body ratio of ~85.2 percent. The Size of the screen is 6.67-inches with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, 144Hz refresh rate, ~395 PPI density, and 650 nits max brightness for good visibility in sunlight. However, it might seem a little outdated not to include an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Camera

The Xiaomi Redmi K30S has a triple camera setup on the back and it consists of a 64 MP(f/1.9) main camera that is designed with the Sony IMX682 Exmor RS and can take outstanding photos in daylight with remarkable sharpness and clarity. The main camera is assisted by a 13MP(f/2.4) ultra-wide lens with a 123˚ field of view, a 5 MP (f/2.4) macro lens. A 20MP (f/2.2 and 0.8um) is available on the front side for selfies. The Redmi K30S offers an overall satisfactory score in the camera segment.
The main camera can shoot [email protected]/30fps videos assisted by Gyro-EIS technology, which may probably overperform some flagship devices. In addition, the K30S offers a range of video options, such as [email protected]/60fps, and [email protected]/60/120/240/960fps. However, the mode for stabilization starts from [email protected]
This device offers a good camera performance and I can confidently recommend it to any YouTuber who is on budget and can’t afford a camera but looking for a good camera phone. With no stabilization feature, the front camera provides [email protected], and [email protected] video shooting modes.
Performance & Battery
The device is fitted with a Snapdragon 865 SOC and LPDDR5 memory in which is a nice performance combination if you ask me. Aside from the “plus” version, the SD865 is the best flagship in the android ecosystem. It is an octa-core Kryo 585 chipset with one core at 2.84 GHz, three cores at 2.42 GHz, and the remaining four cores at 1.80 GHz clock speed. The chipset is coupled to Adreno 650 GPU graphic unit which makes the K30S a tough device that can handle heavy games and multitasking without lagging.
The device packs a 5,000mAh battery cell and on average use, it can last for 1 day. The box comes with a fast charger of 33W, which takes about 75 minutes to reach 100% from 0%. However, the K30S does not come with support for wireless charging, and this is another important feature but still, a non-issue if you consider the price P.S this is a flagship feature nowadays.
MIUI 11 UI runs on the Xiaomi Redmi K30S and it is based on Android 10. MIUI is fairly flexible, but it probably won’t appeal to many consumers who are particularly used the stock version of Android OS.
